Two Simple Affirmations Experiments

Here's a couple of low-level affirmations experiments for those of you still leaning toward the cynical when it comes to The Law of Attraction and similar belief systems. A brief definition of precisely what affirmations are follows (feel free to skip the next paragraph if you're already familiar with the subject).

Affirmations are positive statements (sometimes referred to as 'scripts') that condition your subconscious mind to develop a positive perception of yourself. Affirmations can help you eradicate negative self-perception, enabling you to accomplish your goals. In a very real way, people use affirmations all the time. Unfortunately, most of these affirmations are along the lines of, 'I can't' and 'I'll never'. And, guess what? They come true all the time.

For both of these affirmations experiments, you'll need to write the affirmations down in your own hand (the kind of index cards you can get from any stationery store are ideal for this). Then, you will need to learn them by heart so you can recite them anywhere at any time. You may want to reword the affirmations so they're more in keeping with your own personality and style. If you do make changes, just remember to keep them positive and in the present tense.

Affirmations Experiment 1. Affirmation: Wherever I go, I encounter love and affection. A smile is never far away. The purpose of this affirmation is to have someone smile at you. A stranger, out of the blue. Repeat this affirmation before setting off somewhere reasonably crowded (a department store during your lunch break for example). Try it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Affirmations Experiment 2. Affirmation: Every moment is new and unique. Every moment is charged with infinite possibilities. The purpose of this affirmation is to have something new and interesting happen to you. It could be you meet a new person or encounter a new situation. Repeat this affirmation before setting off for work in the morning. It may take a few days, but something new and interesting will happen to you.

Remember, the way you perceive yourself has a direct and dramatic impact upon the way others perceive you. Your environment, in a very real sense, is other people. Change the way you perceive yourself and you change your environment, you circumstances, your life.

Good luck.
